The Oriel 70310 is a multifunction optical power meter that delivers spectrally corrected absolute power readings across UV, visible, and infrared wavelengths. This universal detector readout accepts cooled and room-temperature detectors—including PMTs, silicon, InGaAs, germanium, and thermopile sensors—and displays measurements on a 4½ digit LED array. The instrument operates as a dedicated picoammeter and millivoltmeter, supporting DC current measurement from 2 nA to 2 mA across seven ranges, DC voltage from 2 mV to 2 V across four ranges, and RMS voltage from 2 mV to 2 V. Accuracy reaches ±0.1% of full scale for DC and ±0.5% for AC measurements. NIST-traceable calibrated detectors store calibration data in onboard PROM; the meter reads this information and applies spectral correction at the selected wavelength. The 70310 integrates via RS-232 and IEEE-488.2 interfaces for PC control and data transfer, while a 0 to 2 V proportional analog output enables standalone benchtop operation or integration with external data loggers. A single-pole 20 Hz input filter minimizes noise and line frequency ripple. Background light nulling accommodates ambient measurement conditions. An onboard ±5 V supply powers detector amplifiers when required. Autoranging and fixed-scale modes support linear or dB unit display. A Windows-based data acquisition package enables spectro-radiometric measurements and simple data logging.

– Detector Compatibility
The 70310 operates with cooled or room-temperature detectors across multiple material systems and wavelength ranges: photomultiplier tubes (160–1000 nm), GaN (180–365 nm), silicon (180–1100 nm), InGaAs (800–1700 nm), germanium (800–1800 nm), and thermopiles (180–40 µm). User-supplied detectors compatible with picoampere-to-milliampere or microvolt-to-volt outputs integrate directly.
