The PM-204A is a handheld optical power meter for field and laboratory deployment across LAN, WAN, CATV, and long-distance optical network environments. Built around an InGaAs detector, it measures optical power, identifies fiber types, quantifies attenuation, and assesses link transmission quality. The meter operates from -50 to +26 dBm with ±5% ± 10 nW accuracy and 0.01 dB resolution across its primary measurement band. A backlit LCD ensures readability in low-light conditions, while onboard tone detection at 270, 1000, and 2000 Hz supports fiber identification. Data logging stores up to 1000 measurement sets; USB Type-C connectivity enables direct transfer to included analysis software. The rugged handheld form factor (6.3″ × 3″ × 1.8″, 270 g) runs on dual AA NiMH batteries, four AAA alkaline cells, or the supplied 6 V AC/DC adapter. Auto power-off preserves battery life during field work.
