The Rohde & Schwarz FSU46 is a high-performance spectrum analyzer delivering exceptional measurement capability across 20 Hz to 46 GHz. Built on proven RF architecture and customer feedback, this instrument combines outstanding dynamic range, sensitivity, and measurement accuracy for aerospace, defense, and telecommunications applications. The FSU46 features a uniform operating concept aligned with the FSE and FSIQ product families, ensuring consistency across deployments while maintaining forward compatibility with industry standards.
Technical Specifications
The FSU46 spans 20 Hz to 46 GHz with DC coupling. Resolution bandwidth ranges from 1 Hz minimum to 50 MHz standard, with 0.01 Hz frequency resolution. Video bandwidth extends from 1 Hz to 10 MHz.
Dynamic range performance is defined by displayed average noise level (DANL) of –152 dBm at 2 GHz (1 Hz bandwidth), –148 dBm at 26 GHz, and –138 dBm at 46 GHz. Third-order intercept point exceeds 20 dBm with typical +25 dBm performance. The 1 dB compression point reaches +13 dBm at 0 dB RF attenuation. Total measurement uncertainty remains below 0.3 dB. Adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) for 3GPP measures typical 77 dB, or 84 dB with noise correction.
Phase noise reaches –160 dBc (1 Hz) at 10 MHz carrier offset. The frequency counter provides selectable resolution from 0.1 Hz to 10 kHz with accuracy of ±(frequency × reference error + ½ last digit) at S/N greater than 25 dB.
Sweep capabilities span from 2.5 ms to 16,000 s in zero-span mode, with sweep time adjustable from 1 µs to 16,000 s. The internal OCXO reference exhibits 1 × 10⁻⁷ aging per year after 30 days; the FSU-B4 option improves this to 3 × 10⁻⁸ with enhanced phase noise. External reference accepts 1 MHz to 20 MHz in 1 Hz steps.
The 8.4-inch color LC TFT display provides 800 x 600 pixel resolution (SVGA) with pixel rate failure below 1 × 10⁻⁵. Two measurement traces are supported. Level axis offers logarithmic scaling from 1 dB to 200 dB in 1/2/5 dB steps or linear 10% of reference level per division.
