Equipment info

The Tektronix Type 134 Current Probe Amplifier interfaces with Tektronix current probes to form a complete alternating current measurement system when used with a Tektronix oscilloscope. This amplifier enhances low-frequency response and sensitivity of probes such as the P6019, P6020, P6021, and P6022. The unit also functions as a 50 Ω input voltage amplifier with selectable gain settings.

Technical Specifications

The Type 134 offers dual gain modes via front-panel selector switch: Gain of 50 (±3% accuracy) associated with the P6022 probe, and Gain of 125 (±3% accuracy) associated with the P6021 probe. Input and output impedances are approximately 50 Ω, AC-coupled. Bandwidth performance varies by gain setting: 8 Hz to 54 MHz (3-dB down) at Gain 50, and 10 Hz to 30 MHz (3-dB down) at Gain 125.

Current measurement is calibrated in steps from 1 mA/div to 1 A/div with appropriate oscilloscope input settings. Deflection factor with a 50 mV/div oscilloscope input setting is 1 mV/div for the P6022 probe and 0.4 mV/div for the P6021 probe. Linear deflection reaches ±10 A Peak at 1 A/div with input noise less than 150 µA referred to input.

Step response performance shows ±5% aberrations (total 5% p-p) within 50 ns, followed by ±1% to ±2% (total 2% p-p) thereafter. Baseline tilt remains below 3% during the first 500 µs of a step.

– Key Features

• AC-coupled BNC input (front panel) and locking BNC output (rear panel)
• Aluminum-alloy wrap-around cover with anodized front panel and blue vinyl exterior
• Compact form factor: 3 5/8 inches high × 1 7/8 inches wide × 6 3/16 inches deep
• Net weight approximately 4 pounds
• External power supply required (115 VAC or 230 VAC options, or 16-33 V DC battery at 70 mA)

– Compatibility & Integration

Designed for operation with Tektronix P6019, P6020, P6021, and P6022 current probes and Tektronix oscilloscopes. The dedicated power supply is specific to the Type 134 and not interchangeable with other Tektronix power supplies such as the Type 131.
