Equipment info

The Teledyne Dalsa/Coreco Imaging PCVision is a half-size PCI frame grabber engineered for cost-effective machine vision OEM applications. It captures images from analog video sources—interlaced (RS-170, CCIR) and progressive scan (VGA) cameras—with deterministic trigger-to-image reliability. The board features 2 MB of on-board VRAM for simultaneous acquisition and processing while preventing data loss during host transfer. Its 40 MHz triple-channel 8-bit ADC digitizes up to three synchronized monochrome sources or supports six inputs using frame delay mode, with software-selectable anti-aliasing filters (6 MHz or 12 MHz cutoff) and bypass capability.

Technical Specifications

• Form Factor: Half-size PCI card
• Memory: 2 MB VRAM for image buffering
• ADC: 40 MHz triple-channel 8-bit converter with gain and offset control
• Anti-Aliasing Filters: Software-selectable 6 MHz or 12 MHz cutoff; bypass option available
• Input Channels: Up to six inputs (frame delay mode); three synchronized monochrome or RGB sources
• Digital I/O: 16-bit interface for external control devices
• Bus Interface: PCI32, 5V and 3.3V PCI compliant

– Key Features

• On-board memory enables PCI transfers up to 10× faster than competing low-cost boards
• DMA-driven acquisition of Areas of Interest minimizes transfer overhead
• Minimal CPU involvement through automatic descriptor retrieval from host memory
• External trigger, strobe, and frame reset support
• Fully programmable timing for camera interface flexibility
• Supports standard and non-standard monochrome and RGB analog sources
• High digitization rates for rapid image capture

– Typical Applications

Cost-sensitive OEM machine vision systems requiring reliable, synchronized multi-camera image acquisition with deterministic capture timing and flexible analog source compatibility.

– Compatibility & Integration

• Host Interface: PCI Bus (PCI32, 5V/3.3V compliant)
• Operating Systems: Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista (32/64-bit), Windows 2000, Linux (RedHat 9.0, Mandrake 9.2, Fedora 4.0)
