The VXI Technology VM6068-1 is a 4-channel serial interface module for VXIbus systems, delivering programmable multi-protocol support and up to 5 Mbaud serial data rates. Operating as a single-wide C-size card within the VMIP™ family, this module combines RS-232, RS-422, RS-423, RS-449, RS-485, V.35, and EIA-530 interface capability with UART and HDLC/SDLC protocol support. Each module provides 4 MB of on-board buffer memory (1 MB per channel) and leverages the Motorola MC68360 QUICC controller for signal management. VXIbus register access delivers 25 µs transfer rates per 8-bit character, enabling real-time UART data up to 400 kb/s and HDLC frame rates to 323.2 kb/s across the backplane. Fully SCPI compatible with VXIplug&play drivers included, the VM6068-1 scales to 12 channels per card through multi-module configuration and integrates with other VMIP™ instruments to reduce footprint and system cost.
