• Eight independent serial channels eliminate external multiplexing complexity
• Programmable communication parameters enable adaptation to legacy and modern protocols
• Four on-module timers support real-time control tasks
• 32 interrupt sources with masking and vectoring allow flexible system integration
• Configurable strobe pin extends timing synchronization options
• Low power consumption reduces thermal load in confined carrier environments
– Typical Applications
Industrial serial networks, distributed I/O systems, multi-channel data logging, process control interfaces, and legacy equipment integration requiring EIA-485 connectivity.
– Compatibility & Integration
Complies with ANSI/VITA-4 IndustryPack standard. Compatible transition modules include XM-OCTAL (19″ rack-mount DB9 females), XM-OCTAL-6U-D (6U-mount 25D females), XM-OCTAL-6U-RJ8 (6U-mount RJ45), and XM-OCTAL6URJ16 (6U-mount RJ11). Carriers with Champ50 connectors are not compatible. Carriers lacking ID PROM write capability may require on-module memory allocation for interrupt vectors.
