The EXFO W2CM 10 Gigabit Ethernet Interface Series is a high-performance module for testing and monitoring converged fixed-mobile networks across wireless (2G/3G/LTE), IMS, VoLTE, and VoIP infrastructures. It delivers signaling and user-plane testing of network elements including P-GW, S-GW, eNodeB, SBC, CSCFs, BGF, HSS, and IMS application servers. Built on FPGA and PowerPC processor architecture, the W2CM series generates and analyzes real-world traffic at line rate—supporting millions of subscriber emulations and thousands of transactions per second.
Technical Specifications
Each blade features one or two FPGA processors capable of driving one 10 GbE port or eight 1 GbE ports at line rate. A PowerPC processor augments FPGA processing for complex applications such as VoLTE. Time-stamp resolution reaches 10 ns; KPI granularity is 16 µs. The module supports up to two million subscribers, four million total bearers, and two million active bearers. RTP stream capacity is 512,000 streams.
Ethernet connectivity includes eight 1 GbE ports and two 10 GbE ports, usable simultaneously. Optical interfaces support 10 G LAN/WAN via SFP+ connectors.
– Key Features
• SmartReplay Technology enables guaranteed line-rate generation and analysis of stateful traffic across millions of subscribers
• Emulates network elements such as eNodeB, P-GW, S-GW, MME, and CSCFs
• Wraps around network elements or segments for testing diverse deployment architectures including roaming, fixed, collapsed, and decomposed scenarios
• Data profiling supports dedicated, default, GBR, and non-GBR bearer configurations
• Traffic mix modeling: 40% video, 30% HTTP, 30% audio profiles with configurable average bearers per UE
• Application data generation and reception at line rate—HTTP, FTP, VoIP, not dummy packets
• Protocol support: SIP, HTTP, RTP, FTP, SMTP, RTSP
– Typical Applications
LTE and IMS network validation, VoLTE testing, VoIP infrastructure verification, bearer performance analysis, and subscriber load testing at scale.
