The HP/Agilent 4287A RF LCR Meter is a high-performance impedance measurement instrument operating from 1 MHz to 3 GHz with ±1.0% basic accuracy. It delivers rapid characterization of electronic components—particularly SMD inductors and EMI filters—using an advanced RF I-V measurement method that outperforms network analyzers for very small inductance detection. The 4287A measures impedance, admittance, inductance, capacitance, resistance, Q factor, and dissipation factor across a 200 mΩ to 3 kΩ range with nine millisecond per-point measurement time.

Calibration: Open/short/load/low-loss capacitor calibration with fixture electrical length compensation. Calibration performed at measurement plane using working load standards. Measurement accuracy reduced to half stated value if calibration performed outside 23 °C ±5 °C.
