The Keysight/Agilent/HP 81001FF is a 10 dB fixed diffraction filter engineered to reduce optical signal power across a broad wavelength spectrum. This compact attenuator integrates into the 81000 Series Optical Head Connector Adapters and interfaces directly with 815xxx and 816xxx optical heads. It delivers stable, predictable attenuation suitable for both 5 mm and 3 mm head configurations, and remains compatible with 81003xD adapters when equipped with an additional magnetic D ring.
Technical Specifications
• Attenuation: 10 dB
• Wavelength Range: 450 nm to 1700 nm
• Attenuation Flatness: Quite flat across wavelength
• Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL): Approximately 0.05 dB peak-to-peak
• Power Handling: Up to 200 mW when two filters are cascaded
– Key Features
• Fixed attenuation eliminates manual adjustment drift
• Minimal polarization-dependent loss ensures consistent performance across polarization states
• Two filters can be cascaded to achieve 20 dB attenuation
• Broadband operation from 450 nm through 1700 nm simplifies multi-wavelength deployments
– Typical Applications
• Optical power measurement at elevated signal levels
• Dynamic range extension in optical test systems
• Signal conditioning for 815xxx and 816xxx optical heads
• Cascaded configurations for higher attenuation requirements
– Compatibility & Integration
The 81001FF works within the Keysight 8000 series ecosystem. Depolarizing filters such as the 81000DF can be used in conjunction with the 81001FF to further reduce PDL. Compatible connector adapters span multiple formats including FC/PC/APC, SC/PC/APC, LC, ST, and DIN 47256/4108. Bare fiber adapters and fiber lenses support integration with both single-mode and multi-mode fiber systems.
