The Marconi IFR Aeroflex 3902 is an advanced radio test system for development, manufacturing, and maintenance of analog and digital radio communications equipment. Operating from 10 MHz to 2.7 GHz, it delivers 1 Hz frequency resolution and OCXO-based timing stability at 0.01 ppm. The platform integrates a full-span spectrum analyzer covering 1 MHz to 2.7 GHz, wideband 5 MHz channel analyzer with simultaneous demodulation, dual-channel oscilloscope to 4 MHz, and comprehensive audio analysis including SINAD and distortion measurement.
RF capabilities span -130.0 dBm to -30.0 dBm (T/R port) and -130.0 dBm to +10.0 dBm (duplex port), with 0.1 dB resolution and 1 dB typical accuracy. The antenna input port enables sensitive measurements down to -115 dBm with internal pre-amp. Three independent audio modulators and three baseband generators provide ±1% level accuracy from 1 mV to 8 Vrms across 20 Hz to 40 kHz with 50 ppm frequency accuracy. Distortion measurement ranges 0.0% to 100.0% with ±0.5% accuracy in the 1% to 10% distortion band.
Digital protocol support includes P25 conventional and trunked with Phase II TDMA, TETRA mobile and base station with DMO, HPD packet data, DMR mobile and repeater, and LSM generation/analysis. FM de-emphasis selections (50 µs, 75 µs, 750 µs) and parametric RF tests for power, frequency error, FM deviation, and AM modulation index round out the measurement suite. The system accepts broadband RF power inputs up to 125 W and includes DTMF and DCS generation.
