The National Instruments VXI-MXI REV D9 is a register-based VXI interface module that bridges VXI systems with external devices through bidirectional VXIbus and MXIbus cycle interconversion. This 32-bit MXIbus interface enables seamless integration of VXI instruments, mainframes, and external PCs into unified test architectures. The module supports dynamic device configuration and high-speed data transfers using integrated block mode, achieving 33 MB/s burst rate and 23 MB/s sustained throughput across the MXIbus.
The VXI-MXI operates in both C-size and D-size VXI chassis via Slot 0 capability, extending VXIbus functionality to multiple external devices or interconnecting multiple mainframes as a single VXIbus system. Eight TTL backplane triggers and CLK10 can be extended between chassis using a daisy-chain topology supporting up to six devices across 19 m of total cable length. Front panel connectors provide convenient trigger and clock extension interfaces based on TIA/EIA-899 M-LVDS signaling standards.
