The Newport ESP6000-ROI is a single-axis motion controller engineered for high-precision positioning in research, automation, and industrial environments. It integrates Newport’s Enhanced System Performance (ESP) technology, which stores stage-specific parameters—electrical characteristics, motor type, encoder type, lead screw pitch, and calibration constants—in onboard EEPROM. The controller automatically recognizes connected ESP-compatible stages and configures the driver microprocessor for optimal performance, delivering true plug-and-play integration without risk of mismatches or damage.
When paired with the Newport UniDrive6000 Multi-Axis Universal Motor Driver, the system scales to six axes of synchronized motion control. The UniDrive6000 is a rack-mountable driver supporting DC motors up to 200 Watts and stepper motors with up to 250x micro-step resolution. Each axis uses a single universal motor driver card, automatically identified and configured by the UniDrive6000. The ESP6000-ROI controller card installs directly into a user’s PC, communicating with the driver hardware to execute advanced trajectory generation, error compensation, and coordinated multi-axis profiles.
