The Newport MM2000 RX is an 8-axis rack-mount motion controller engineered for precision automation in research, development, and industrial environments requiring coordinated multi-axis positioning. It executes advanced motion control programs with conditional logic (IF…THEN, WHILE…WEND) capable of testing 8 I/O bit levels, while retaining system configuration—velocity, acceleration, software limits, and PID compensation parameters—through power cycles for automatic reload at startup.
The controller interfaces with DC motors (with encoders) and stepper motors. The DCIB DC Module drives 12V and 24V DC motors up to 400 mA, with voltage selection via jumper. Motor feedback derives from incremental encoders with TTL-compatible quadrature outputs routed through dual-stage signal interpolation: an ultra-high resolution, low-noise encoder signal interpolator with programmable subdivision up to 32,768-fold, delivering resolutions to 0.122 nm with a 4 µm signal period scale; and a secondary 40 MHz hardware interpolator with signal subdivision up to 200-fold for synchronization.

– Compatibility & Integration
The MM2000 RX integrates with Newport’s DCIB DC Module for motor drive capability. External power is required when DC Modules operate with the Universal Interface Box. The controller supports legacy industrial buses (ISA) alongside serial (RS-232C) and instrument control (GPIB) protocols.
