The Newport PMC200-P is a 2-axis motion controller system engineered for precise positioning control in laboratory and industrial environments. It drives Newport Model 495 and 496 integrated motorized rotation stages, as well as 850 Series motorized drives using dedicated motion control ICs and a Motorola 68000 host processor. The digital control architecture eliminates the need for analog compensation or velocity feedback, delivering independent position and velocity control per axis.
Technical Specifications
The system operates with a Motorola 68000 CPU driving two independent axes through dedicated motion control integrated circuits. Position tracking maintains continuous resolution to 1 quadrature count. Configurable backlash and positioning error compensation accommodate mechanical variances, while integrated stall detection provides motor protection. Absolute jog step settings enable precise incremental positioning.
Electrical specifications: Input voltage 90–132 VAC or 180–264 VAC, 47–63 Hz (international supply). Input current draws less than 1.0 A at 90–132 VAC and less than 0.5 A at 180–264 VAC. Output voltage ±15 VDC per axis, with maximum output current of 0.5 A simultaneous across both axes or 1.0 A on a single axis. Total power consumption is 45 W.
