The Radisys EXM-13 is a modular VGA and Super VGA graphics accelerator designed for embedded telecommunications and industrial computing systems. It integrates into Radisys EXM carriers and provides video output via standard DB-15 VGA connectors, with auxiliary connectors for flat-panel and alternate display types. The module uses ISA bus electrical compatibility, enabling deployment of standard PC video drivers and software across DOS, Windows, Windows NT, Windows 95, and SCO Unix environments.
Technical Specifications

• EXM-13A: 1 MB or 2 MB
Data Path: 64-bit wide for display memory access (EXM-13B)
Display Resolutions
• VGA: 640 × 480
• SVGA: Up to 1280 × 1024 × 8-bit (256 colors) at 60 Hz non-interlaced
• EXM-13: 640×480, 800×600 (256 colors), 1024×768 (16 colors)
• EXM-13A: Up to 1280 × 1024 × 256 colors (2 MB); up to 1024 × 768 (1 MB)
Color Depth: Up to 16.8 million colors. Performance degradation occurs at higher depths (65,536 and 16.8 million colors) due to DRAM architecture.
– Key Features
• Standard DB-15 VGA output connector
• 36-pin auxiliary connector (shielded female AMP 174726-3 on EXM-13B; standard 36-pin D on EXM-13)
• Auxiliary blanking signal input/output support
• ISA bus electrical interface for broad software compatibility
– Typical Applications
Embedded video display in telecommunications equipment, industrial control systems, and distributed computing platforms requiring modular graphics expansion.
– Compatibility & Integration
Installs directly into Radisys EXM carriers including EMC, EXP-MC, EPC-4, and EPC-5. Not compatible with EPC-2 or EPC-3 systems. Multiple EXM-6/13 modules require application software control to disable all but one at a time to avoid address conflicts. Standard video memory and I/O address usage may conflict with other video controllers.
