The SMART Technologies 93-00481-00 USB Adapter bridges serial and USB communication, enabling connection of SMART Board interactive displays and compatible peripherals to computers. This male DB9-to-male USB Type-A adapter converts RS-232 serial data to USB format and vice versa, facilitating reliable data transfer and device control in interactive display environments. The adapter draws power exclusively from the USB port; no power is supplied through the RS-232 connection. Internal circuitry is housed in plastic enclosure.

This adapter integrates with SMART equipment utilizing X-Port source-switching architecture. Installation requires SMART Board software and drivers specific to your display model. SMART Board 500 series units support up to SMART Product Drivers version 11.6 (included with SMART Notebook 14.1); newer driver versions are incompatible with this legacy platform.
Note: This adapter is not suitable for direct connection between SMART Board interactive whiteboards and computers. Direct SMART Board connections require the 21.5′ (6.6 m) SMART USB adapter (USB-FRU) with female DB9 connector.
