The Tektronix DTGM31 is a high-performance output module designed to expand the signal generation capabilities of DTG5000 series Data Timing Generators. This single-channel complementary output module delivers sub-110 ps rise times and supports complex waveform generation with precision jitter control, making it essential for high-speed serial communications testing, semiconductor validation, and data storage applications.

The module provides 1.25 Vp-p output into 50 Ω with selectable source impedance (50 Ω or 23 Ω) and supports both normal and inverted signal outputs. Maximum output current reaches ±80 mA. Output voltage windows span -2 V to 2.47 V at 50 Ω impedance and -2 V to 7 V at 1 MΩ impedance, with differential output capability to 125 V.

Jitter generation features include selectable profiles (sine, Gaussian noise, square, triangle) with frequency resolution to 1 mHz across a 0.015 Hz to 1.56 MHz range. Jitter amplitude capability extends to 16.5 UIpk-pk depending on data rate and frequency. Cross-point adjustment (duty cycle distortion) ranges from 30% to 70% with 1% resolution. Differential timing offset is adjustable from -1 ns to 1 ns with 0.2 ps resolution when paired with DTG5274/DTG5334 mainframes. External jitter input accommodates DC to 250 MHz frequencies with typical input range -0.5 V to +0.5 V (-1 V to +1 V maximum).

Pulse width resolution of 5 ps enables fine timing control. Semiautomatic deskew calibration provides up to 500 ps range with 200 ps post-calibration accuracy in slots E–H (DTG5078 only).

Performance metrics demonstrate total jitter <14 psRMS and <60 ps p-p (typical) at 2.7 Gb/s with PRBS 2^15-1 data patterns on DTG5274 mainframes at 0.8 Vp-p, and <13 psRMS with <50 ps p-p on DTG5334 mainframes at 3.35 Gb/s.
