The Agilent/Keysight E1340A is a B-size, 1-slot VXI arbitrary function generator delivering precise waveform synthesis across standard and custom signal types. Operating from register-based control, it generates sine, square, ramp, triangle, sinc, haversine, and noise waveforms with 12-bit amplitude resolution at 42 MSa/s. The module supports frequency sweep, FSK modulation, and waveform hopping—essential for signal characterization, component testing, and laboratory validation. Maximum output reaches 10.2 Vp-p into 50 Ω, extendable to 20 Vp-p with external amplification. Harmonic distortion spans –60 dB at 1 Hz to 100 kHz (at +23 dBm) down to –30 dB at 10–15 MHz, with sine flatness maintained to 0.5 dB across the full frequency range. The 16 kSa waveform memory segments into 4, 8, or 16 kSa blocks, holding up to four active waveforms simultaneously. Burst capability loops from 1 to 65,534 cycles or runs continuous. External triggering supports clock, gate, burst, hop, and FSK inputs; internal markers output sweep and cycle sync pulses. Timebase stability locks to 50 ppm internal or accepts external reference. C-size VXI chassis compatibility via adapter enables flexible system integration.
