The Agilent/Keysight E6237A is a C-size, 2-slot VXI controller module that serves as a real-time, message-based system controller for VXI mainframe integration. It provides direct computer access to VXI devices, system memory, and triggers without requiring a separate command module. The E6237A features a full 32-bit wide data path (D32) on the VXIbus for maximum throughput and includes one EXM expansion slot for optional interface cards.
Technical Specifications
Processor & Memory
• 166 MHz Intel Pentium processor
• 32 MB RAM, upgradeable via standard SODIMMs
• 2.16 GB internal 2.5″ notebook-style hard drive with 3.5″ floppy drive
Operating System & Software
• LynxOS real-time operating system
• Deterministic interrupt latency: 400 µsec
• Optional bundled development software includes LynxOS PosixWorks with TotalView debugger and TimeScan performance analyzer, plus Agilent SICL/C-SCPI development tools on CD-ROM
Interface Connectivity
• VXIbus: Full D32 (32-bit) data path
• LAN: Standard connection for alternative data paths
• SCSI-2 interface
• RS-232 serial port
• ECP parallel port
• SVGA video output with 2 MB VRAM
• Two PS/2 ports
– Key Features
• Message-based, real-time controller architecture eliminates dedicated command module requirement
• Single EXM expansion slot enables custom interface integration
• Standard LAN connection provides flexible system connectivity
• Supports Agilent SICL I/O library and C-SCPI instrument command language
• Memory upgradeable using standard SODIMM modules
– Storage Considerations
The 2.16 GB internal drive is configured for low-usage operation. Continuous disk read/writes exceeding once per minute may cause premature failure. High-frequency storage applications require external SCSI hard drives or VXI disk modules such as the E3249B.
– Compatibility & Integration
The E6237A integrates with all Agilent C-size mainframe chassis. Dual optional licensing packages support both development (Option 001) and run-time environments (Option 002), enabling flexible deployment in production and development workflows.
