Agilent/Keysight RP7943A

The Keysight RP7943A is a single-output, bidirectional regenerative DC power system that combines a high-power source and electronic load in a compact 3U package. Operating in two-quadrant mode, it sources and sinks current with continuous capability and autoranging output characteristics. The unit returns up to 90% of energy to the grid, directly reducing electricity and cooling costs. Rated at 10 kW with 0–20 V output and ±0–800 A current capability, it achieves 85% efficiency and 0.99 power factor. Input requires 400/480 VAC 3-phase at ±10%. Command processing executes in sub-millisecond intervals, enabling fast transient simulation through arbitrary waveform generation. Battery emulation functions simulate charge states and internal resistance across operating life profiles. The system supports step, constant dwell, and list waveform functions. Digital control uses LXI, LAN, USB, and GPIB interfaces with seven user-configurable I/O pins on the rear panel. Multiple units parallel to 200 kW for scaled power or loading applications. Harmonic distortion measures 2% typical at full load. Integrated safety architecture protects both operator and device under test.
