HP 8754A 1.3GHz Network Analyzer

The HP 8754A is a 1.3 GHz network analyzer designed for precision RF and microwave measurement across R&D, manufacturing, and quality control environments. It characterizes impedance, transmission, and reflection properties of filters, amplifiers, cables, connectors, and RF circuitry with repeatable accuracy. The instrument sweeps from 500 kHz to 1.3 GHz using linear or logarithmic stimulus patterns, capturing gain/loss, return loss, VSWR, impedance magnitude and phase, and admittance data simultaneously on a dual-trace CRT display. Two 50 Ohm BNC test ports enable comprehensive S-parameter and two-port measurements. A variable output stage delivers -20 dBm to +10 dBm across the measurement band, with adjustable sweep timing to optimize signal settling and data resolution. The HP-IB (IEEE-488) interface allows remote control and integration into automated test systems, while front-panel knobs and buttons provide direct manual operation. Dual-trace CRT graphics with selectable resolution—0.1 dB/div, 1 dB/div, or 5 dB/div for magnitude; 10 degrees/div or 50 degrees/div for phase—enable side-by-side parameter comparison and stimulus condition analysis on a 10×10 graticule.
