Equipment info

The Tektronix 134 is a current probe amplifier that converts the output of compatible Tektronix current probes into voltage signals viewable on an oscilloscope. It enables simultaneous observation of current and voltage waveforms while maintaining load isolation. The unit also functions as a 50 Ω input voltage amplifier with selectable gains of 50 or 125. A separate external power supply (115V or 230V AC input) is required for operation.

Technical Specifications

Current Measurement:
• Compatible probes: P6019, P6020, P6021, P6022
• Measurement range: 1 mA/div to 1 A/div (with 50 mV/div oscilloscope setting)
• Accuracy: ±3%
• Maximum continuous current: 15 A peak-to-peak (P6021 probe)
• Noise: Less than 150 µA referred to input

Voltage Amplifier:
• Input impedance: 50 Ω
• Selectable gain: 50 or 125

Frequency Response (-3 dB):
• High-frequency response (P6021 with 100 MHz oscilloscope): Approximately 28 MHz to 59 MHz
• High-frequency response (P6022 with 100 MHz oscilloscope): Approximately 28 MHz to 54 MHz
• Low-frequency response: Less than 12 Hz to 100 Hz

Transient Performance:
• Aberrations: ±5% (1 mA to 20 mA), ±6% (50 mA to 1 A), within 50 ns of step; ±1% to ±2% thereafter
• Tilt: Within 3% during first 80 µs to 600 µs of step

Power:
• Operating voltage: 16 to 33 VDC, 70 mA
• External supply required: Tektronix Type 015-0058-01 (or equivalent)

– Key Features

• Dual functionality: current amplifier and 50 Ω voltage amplifier
• Locking BNC rear-panel output connector
• Front-panel BNC input
• Aluminum-alloy chassis with anodized blue vinyl wrap-around cover
• Die-cast end plates
• Dimensions: 3 5/8″ H × 1 7/8″ W × 6 3/16″ D

– Typical Applications

• Real-time current and voltage monitoring in circuit testing
• Load isolation during simultaneous dual-parameter observation
• High-frequency transient analysis

– Compatibility & Integration

The Type 134 integrates with Tektronix current probes P6019, P6020, P6021, and P6022, and interfaces with oscilloscopes via BNC connectors. Frequency response characteristics vary with probe selection and oscilloscope bandwidth.
