The Tektronix AFG310 is a single-channel arbitrary function generator that delivers five integrated capabilities: standard function generation, arbitrary waveform creation, burst generation, frequency sweep, and modulation sourcing. Engineers can generate custom signals across a broad frequency range—from DC to 16 MHz for sine and square waves, with dedicated outputs for triangle, ramp, and pulse waveforms up to 100 kHz. The instrument stores four user-defined arbitrary waveforms (16,384 points each) with 12-bit vertical resolution and a 16 MS/s sample rate, enabling precise signal synthesis for complex testing scenarios.

Amplitude control spans 50 mVp-p to 10 Vp-p into 50 Ω with ±(1% + 5 mV) accuracy. Offset capability—variable from –0.75 V to +0.75 V depending on amplitude range—maintains 5 mV resolution. Pulse edges rise and fall in less than 100 ns with <2% overshoot, while timing jitter remains at 2 ns at 100 kHz. The AFG310 incorporates AM modulation (external carrier up to 16 MHz, 1 V to 100% modulation depth) and FM modulation (internal, 0.01 Hz to 10 kHz sweep range, deviation to 8 MHz). FSK capability supports two-frequency keying at rates from 0.01 Hz to 50 kHz. Linear and logarithmic frequency sweeps accommodate both analog and digital signal development. Output impedance is fixed at 50 Ω with 42 V peak isolation to earth ground.
