The Wandel & Goltermann OLP-1 is a portable optical power meter for measuring optical power levels across fiber optic systems. Engineered for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of optical networks, it delivers accurate measurements across a wide dynamic range and supports all standard fiber types and wavelengths in use today.
Technical Specifications
Optical Performance
• Wavelength range: 800 to 1600 nm
• Measuring range: -60 dBm to +3 dBm
• Resolution: 0.1 dB
• Single built-in detector covers all wavelength ranges
Accuracy
Intrinsic error of ± 0.13 dB applies across the -60 to +18 dBm range. Measurement uncertainty varies by wavelength: ± 0.25 dB at 850 nm, ± 0.2 dB at 1300/1310 nm, and ± 0.40 dB at 1550 nm. Under reference conditions (−20 dBm CW, 1310 nm ±1 nm, 23°C ±3°C, 45–75% relative humidity), uncertainty is ± 0.13 dB. Temperature range extends from −5 to +45°C after zeroing at ΔT = ± 1 K; at 850 nm, the lower validity limit increases by 5 dB across this range.
Modulation & Output
Detects modulation signals at four standard frequencies with audible tone indication. Analog output available for continuous monitoring.
Power & Operation
Rechargeable battery with optional AC charger or dry/NiCd battery support. Auto-off function (approximately 20 minutes) can be disabled.
