The Keysight RP7946A is a single-output, bidirectional regenerative DC power system designed for high-power testing in automotive, energy, and HEV/EV converter applications. Operating as both a precision power source and electronic load, it returns up to 90% of consumed power to the grid, reducing operational costs and cooling requirements. The unit delivers 10 kW across 0–160 V and ±125 A with autoranging output, enabling flexible voltage and current combinations. Low output ripple (12 mV rms, 120 mV peak-to-peak) and fast transient response (400 µs recovery) support demanding test profiles. An integrated arbitrary function generator simulates complex transients and user-defined waveforms with up to 65,535 data points, plus list functionality for multi-step sequences. Seamless transitions between source and sink modes eliminate output disruptions during bidirectional operation.
