The HP/Agilent 66309B is a dual-output DC power supply engineered for mobile communications and battery device testing. Each of its two independent outputs delivers 0–15 V at 0–3 A continuously, with peak current capability to 5 A for up to 7 ms. Maximum output power reaches 45 W per output. The instrument combines precision voltage and current programming—accurate to ±(0.05% of setting + 10 mV) and ±(0.05% of setting + 1.33 mA) respectively—with low-noise DC delivery: 1 mV RMS and 6 mV peak-to-peak voltage ripple across 20 Hz to 20 MHz. Transient response is rapid, with output recovery in less than 35 µs and voltage dip of 70 mV under load step conditions. Readback accuracy supports precision measurement: voltage to ±(0.03% + 5 mV) and current to ±(0.2% + 0.5 mA) in the positive range. Remote sensing capability accommodates up to 4 V drop per load lead, with load regulation adjustment of 2 mV per 1 V positive lead drop. The dual-output topology eliminates the need for separate supplies when testing main battery and charger circuits simultaneously, optimizing test rack density. Open-sense wire detection prevents setup errors. GPIB interface provides remote control and monitoring. Input requirement: 2 A at 170 W (100 Vac, worst-case full load).
