The National Instruments PXI-6040E is a multifunction data acquisition module designed for PXI systems. It delivers 12-bit analog acquisition with 16 single-ended or 8 differential input channels, dual analog outputs, 8 digital I/O lines, and two 24-bit counter/timers. Sampling reaches 500 kS/s on analog inputs with settling times of 600 kHz (small signal) and 350 kHz (large signal). The module incorporates an NI PGIA amplifier with temperature drift protection minimizing measurement error to less than 0.0006% of reading per °C.
