Equipment info

The HP E3611A is a 30 W linear DC power supply engineered for laboratory and development work requiring stable, low-noise power delivery. Its dual-range architecture—0–20 VDC at 0–1.5 ADC or 0–35 VDC at 0–0.85 ADC—accommodates diverse load requirements from a single instrument. Front-panel range selection, 10-turn potentiometers for voltage and current adjustment, and separate digital meters enable precise, real-time monitoring and control.

Excellent regulation and transient response define its performance. Load regulation holds within 0.01% + 2 mV (voltage) and 0.01% + 1 mA (current) across the full operating range. Line regulation tracks the same tolerances over all input voltage conditions. Output ripple and noise remain below 200 µVrms and 2 mV peak-to-peak across 20 Hz to 20 MHz. Transient recovery takes less than 50 µs to stabilize within 10 mV following current step changes. Temperature stability is assured through a coefficient of 0.02% + 1 mV per °C (voltage) and 0.02% + 2 mA per °C (current).

Protection circuits include overvoltage shutdown and continuously acting constant-current limiting that safeguards against overloads and direct shorts. Remote sensing automatically corrects for voltage drop in load leads, ensuring accurate delivery at the device under test. Three isolated output terminals on the front panel permit either the positive or negative terminal to be grounded, with outputs floatable to 240 V from ground.

Digital metering offers 100 mV voltage resolution and 10 mA current resolution with ±0.5% + 2 counts accuracy at 25 °C ±5 °C. Output drift stabilizes to less than 0.1% + 5 mV (voltage) and 0.1% + 10 mA (current) after eight hours of operation following a 30-minute warm-up period.
